The Biology of Bioterrorism Use today's headlines to teach science to today's students. The basics of microbiology are brought to life in an integrated fashion in this program. Students can compare the parallel histories of bioterrorism and epidemics with the history of science and medicine. Students will examine general introductions to viruses and bacteria, as well as in-depth expositions of the virulent varieties: small pox, anthrax, plague, etc. Order this CD-ROM with a labware kit which provides the materials for the laboratory experiment. Students will grow their own cultures and then test disc susceptibilities. Their results can be compared with fifteen years of collected data. A simulation of this experiment is also featured for the students who miss the lab activity. Interactive questions test the students' understanding. See some sample screens below.
